One of the “Most beaufitul villages in Italy”, in a territory summing what of the most magical and suggestive atmosphere Puglia has to offer, prepares itself again to host geniuses and signficant experiences of the worldwide contemporary music scene, announcing the complete line up of the edition taking place in Locorotondo from the 9th of July to the 12th of August:
The 1st of June there will be a live preview, at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, with JUNUN, the musical project involving Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express.

A very sophisticated artistic line up that reflects the actuality of the best British and American music, combined with important Italian experiences, offering a wide-ranged stylistic approach with a soul and organic thin common thread.

From Bonobo’s “intelligent” electronic music to Heliocentric’s cosmic funk, through the deep African jazz soul of (Snarky Puppy’s Michael League) Bokanté and Daymé Arocena (incredible Cuban singer produced by Gilles Peterson), from Yussef Kamaal ‘s young urban London jazz to American black music new leader Robert Glasper Experiment (a real Locus symbol), ending with italian projects as Deproducers (with their live “Botanica” set) and the great Niccolò Fabi celebrating twenty years of carrer.

The Locus experience will be completed with meetings and cultural focuses, bike rides, cinema and all the ingredients of Puglia’s summer: high-quality food, fine wines, great walks in the charming historic center, with peacefulness of the districts and the liveliness of the near beaches.

Locus means place, and the name of the town of Locorotondo express the circularity of the historic center and the global inspiration of the festival. The suggestion that characterize the XII Edition is “Genius Loci meant as the spirit of a place, which Locus has always been developing with international music, in harmony with the territory, environment and experience.

A solid fan-base of loyal users, knows well that on Locus Festival there is always something interesting to discover. Often, in these ten years, Locus Festival have programmed artists before they reached global popularity (Aloe Blacc, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Luca Sapio, Raphael Gualazzi, Robert Glasper, Laura Mvula, Jacob Collier) as well as many italian pop artists qualitatively worthy of Locus (Franco Battiato, Malika Ayane, Sergio Cammariere, Nina Zilli, Mannarino …). Young stars such as Kings Of Convenience, Snarky Puppy, Kamasi Washington, Esperanza Spalding and Seun Kuti but also old lions like Gil Scott-Heron, Enrico Rava, Mulatu Astatke … and so many other greats like David Byrne, Paolo Fresu, Vinicio Capossela, Cody Chesnutt, Stefano Bollani, Gregory Porter, Sly & Robbie, Dj Premier … just to name a few. There have been also djs like Rob Garza from Theo Parrish, Thievery Corporation, Nicola Conte, Gilles Peterson, and intriguing vanguard proposals as Nils Frahm, Floating Points, Thundercat, and The Bad Plus.
